My favorite K-pop acts are back: Infinite and Super Junior. (They’ve never really went away to be honest.) However, both groups recently released repackaged albums of their current releases that include new songs and music videos (MVs) for all the fangirls. Those songs being “A-CHA” and “Paradise”. YAY!
I’ll just start with Infinite, my self-proclaimed babies. Honestly, the song sounds like a really chill, 80s rendition of “BTD” and has to grow on me but the video is visually stunning. That’s to be expected since they never disappoint with their MVs. The video is dark and gloomy but not depressingly so. The jagged, shaky and unfocused shots differs from the “pretty” norm of Korean boy group videos. The boys themselves look like they’ve stepped right out of their recent GQ spread and onto film. The hair, the suits, the intense masculine gazes etched on their baby faces add to the beautifully dark allure. In short, I love it. Duh.
Onto Super Junior’s new MV. Immediately, I was caught and flustered by the close-up shots of the members. They all look fantastic. It’s so strange seeing most of the awkward, goofy-looking kids from the “Miracle” days grow up to be really handsome men. I mean REALLY handsome. :3 The song makes the video more enjoyable since SM always seems to prefer simple videos for Super Junior, but I’m not complaining. The choreography, the style, the silly card, fire and motion effects – I love it all.
In short, I’m so ridiculously biased for both of these groups and should probably stop that. Just watch the music videos.
